The First Night In Israel

Hey Everyone!

We are off to a smooth and wonderful start in Israel! We wrapped up an extremely long two days which started off in so many cities and states across the United State—from California, to Wisconsin, Missouri and Texas.  Our staff members met participants at their gates at the very busy JFK Airport in New York. As the day went on, more and more of our 24 participants arrived.  The staggered arrival allowed staff to get to know the participants, and for participants to begin getting to know each other—in a very chill environment, with plenty of snacks.
The long process of El Al security, baggage checking and regular security was efficient and fairly calm—it allowed enough time for those participants who wished to buy snacks and food near B31, our El Al gate.  Despite some participants claiming they never sleep on flights, everyone slept soundly either before or after our 1:30 am diner of chicken and rice or tuna.  We observed some really wonderful social interactions and discussions among group members, who all set on three nearby rows on the flight.  All woke up in time for breakfast of either omelets or cheese blintzes.  The excitement mounted as the was setting, and we came in for a smooth landing over the Mediterranean River.
Everyone listened carefully to the next set of “what happens next:”  bathroom stop, passport control (look for large mezuzah on the way!), use blue print out card to activate exit gate, get luggage, meet guide and Israeli peers, load bus, exchange money, get SIM cards (have Israeli candy and bottled water!), and drive to Yearim.
It was in the low 50s and quite foggy as we neared our very nice hotel, about 30 minutes from the airport   We unloaded the bus, and went right to dinner—a typical Israeli buffet with way too many choices of salads, main courses, soup, sides and of course, dessert!  We played a few getting to know you games and all were very good sports despite their exhaustion and desire to get to their rooms, shower and go to sleep.  We gave out room assignments and walked across the outdoor courtyard to their rooms.   The staff met for our night time meeting and all agreed with how impressed we are.  The group is nice to each other, good-natured and eager to learn and explore.  They will fish their wish with a day that takes us to Bedouin tent, camel riding, Masada and the Dead Sea.  They knew we are meeting 7 am at breakfast.

  2. Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make your point. You definitely know what youre talking about, why waste your intelligence on just posting videos to your blog when you could be giving us something informative to read?
